CONTRACTS

Federal

Bell-Boeing Joint Program Office of Patuxent River won $31.77 million from the Navy for flight test management and engineering, design engineering, and related efforts.

Coakley & Williams Construction Inc. of Gaithersburg won $31 million from the Army to build an administrative and operations center at Fort Meade.

Forrester Construction Co. of Rockville won $9.26 million from the Navy to design and build a one-story operations facility at Bolling Air Force Base.

Rohde & Schwarz Inc. of Columbia won $159,165 from the Navy for spectrum analyzers.

Tate Andale Inc. of Baltimore won $29,619 from the Defense Logistics Agency for pipes, tubing, hoses and fittings.

Windermere Information Technology Systems of Annapolis won $110,300 from the Navy to maintain, repair and rebuild equipment.

DEALS

A&G Pharmaceutical of Columbia received a $870,000 grant from the Avon Foundation Breast Cancer Prevention Research Initiative to help develop an early-detection test.

Group Dental Service⁄Denex of Rockville will partner with Kaiser Permanente Northwest to provide provide dental administrative services, including claims processing, network access and call center support to Kaiser Permanente Northwest’s 180,000 dental plan members.

General Dynamics Robotic Systems of Westminster won $40 million as a subcontractor to Northrop Grumman Corp. to provide a mail-sorting system for the U.S. Postal Service.

Martek Biosciences Corp. of Columbia was selected by IlDong Foodis to supply infant formula products in South Korea.

Systalex Corp. of Rockville won two contracts with the Environmental Protection Agency to deliver technical management, development and maintenance support services. The first contract, worth nearly $3 million, is with the Office of Administration and Resources Management. The other deal, with the Office of Water, is a five-year contract in which Systalex is a subcontractor to RTI International, one of four prime contractors selected to compete for nearly $75 million in watershed research projects.

Lawrence Howard & Associates Inc., an Owings Mills advertising, marketing and public relations company, has added three clients: North Oaks, a Pikesville senior living community; GreenConnected, a Columbia company that provides networking information for businesses that provide or use environmentally friendly services; and the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties’ Maryland chapter in Baltimore.

Autogrill Group Inc., parent of HMSHost Corp. of Bethesda, plans to acquire CBR Inc., a specialty retail concessions company operating at U.S. airports. Under the deal, Autogrill Group, through a new and wholly owned subsidiary, CBR Specialty Retail Inc., acquires contracts at Baltimore Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport and other nine other U.S. airports.

GenVec Inc. of Gaithersburg won a grant from the National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders of the National Institutes of Health to develop a gene-based drug therapy to treat severe balance disorders. GenVec will receive up to $1.1 million over five years.

Choice Hotels International Inc. of Silver Spring executed an agreement transferring franchising operations from Real Hotel Group plc to Choice for its Comfort, Quality, Sleep and Clarion brand hotels in the United Kingdom.

PROPERTY

Phillips Edison & Co. of Baltimore purchased Airport Village Shopping Center in Pottstown, Pa., a 70,730-square-foot center anchored by Rite Aid.

UniStar Properties LLC of Bethesda acquired a 171,000-square-foot building on 75 acres in Cheshire, Conn., for $31.1 million. Tenants are Alexion Pharmaceuticals, with 250 employees onsite, and Arch Chemicals.
