Player of the Year
Steven Anderson (Damascus, Sr., RB⁄LB)

On both sides of the ball, most dominant player on county’s most dominant team. Made 179 tackles and 6 sacks and rushed for 1,391 yards and 22 TDs.

Coach of the Year
Dan Makosy (Damascus, 8th year)

Building quite a legacy with Swarmin’ Hornets. Led team to first-ever undefeated season (14-0) and to second Class 4A state title in three years.

First-Team Offense

Deontay Twyman

Sherwood Jr. QB

Highlight-reel QB led county and set school records in most categories, including yards (2,545) and TDs (34).

Jared Christman

Poolesville Sr. RB

County’s leading rusher rolled up yardage, defenders and anything else in his way. Set school records with 1,795 yards rushing and 21 TDs.

Kevon Calhoun

Richard Montgomery Sr. RB

Versatile back showed power, breakaway ability in rushing for 1,431 yards and 16 TDs. Fumbled just once.

Shawn Perry

Seneca Valley Jr. RB

Home-run threat was also a workhorse, gaining 1,399 yards (second most in school history) and scoring 21 TDs.

Ben Everett

Sherwood Sr. WR

With great hands and route-running, caught 70 passes for 1,370 yards and 20 TDs, all school records.

Drew Gloster

Good Counsel Sr. WR

Maryland-bound big man hauled in 33 passes for 552 yards with 6 TDs.

Eric Schell

Paint Branch Sr. TE

Six-foot-5 target accumulated 465 yards and 6 TDs on 35 catches.

Andrew Phillips

Georgetown Prep Sr. OL

Stanford-bound tackle helped Hoyas produce 309.5 yards a game.

Nick Jenkins

Good Counsel Jr. OL

All-WCAC first-team selection helped Falcons produce 3,538 total yards and 29.6 points per game.

Tony Edwards

Damascus Soph. OL

Center and linchpin of one of the best offensive lines in county history.

Fred Lamberth

Northwest Sr. OL

Physically (6-1, 290) and technically gifted blocker, great leader.

Donald Langley

Seneca Valley Sr. OL

Best blocker on great rushing team (2,915 yards).

T.J. Radzilowski

Seneca Valley Sr. All-around

Played many positions (QB, RB, FB, LB, K) for Eagles, all with distinction.

Paul Potemra

Bullis Sr. K

Booted 10 field goals, including from 51, 49 and 48 yards out.

Connecticut-bound end produced 85 tackles, 7 sacks, 11 tackles for a loss.

Nick Jenkins

All-WCAC muscle man had 76 tackles (6.3 per game) with 2 sacks.

Mike Velasquez

Wheaton Sr. DL

Two-way stalwart was in on 103 tackles (56 solo) with a sack and a FR.

Andre Smith

Seneca Valley Sr. DL

Blacksburg-bound stud was a disruptive force with 44 solo tackles (13 for losses), 16 QB hurries, 3 sacks, 4 deflected passes and a blocked kick.

Bani Gbadyu

Quince Orchard Sr. LB

Penn State-bound whirlwind was a fearsome presence on the field, making 65 tackles and forcing 5 fumbles.

Pat Lazear

Whitman Jr. LB

The motor that never shut off. Ultimate defensive playmaker made 124 tackles and 6 sacks.

Akeem Hebron

Good Counsel Sr. LB

Georgia-bound tackling machine made 131 stops (14 for losses) to go along with 9 sacks.

Matt Leemhuis

Churchill Sr. DB

Speedy Division I college recruit averaged 11 tackles per game this season and had 10 interceptions in his career.

Mike Alvarado

Gaithersburg Sr. DB

Leader of defense that carried Trojans to playoffs had 70 tackles, 4 interceptions, and is getting Division I attention.

Ryan Shuler

Georgetown Prep Jr. DB

Heavy-hitting safety racked up 87 total tackles with 12 pass break-ups and 4 interceptions.

Austin Bernardo

Damascus Sr. DB

Versatile corner snagged 5 interceptions, ran 2 back for touchdowns, and was a fierce hitter, making 102 tackles, including 1 sack.

Chris Hodgson

All-MIAA selection averaged 39 yards on 35 kicks with six inside the 10.
