First team

Player of the Year

Ryan Smith, Urbana, Sr.

Urbana’s main offensive force shouldered a heavy load for the Hawks, delivering with regularity. Gobbled up 2,376 yards on 268 carries in 12 games with a whopping 35 TD’s.

Coach of the Year

Lorne Ridenour, Middletown, Second Year

Led the Knights to the Class 2A State semifinal game. After a season-opening loss to Thomas Johnson, directed Middletown (11-2) to 11 straight victories.


QB – Damien Wallace, Frederick, Sr.

Passed for over 2,000 yards and 20 touchdowns while rushing for 469 additional yards and six touchdowns.

QB — Colton Weaver, Liberty, Jr.

Led area in passing yardage with 2,099 while tossing 17 touchdowns.

RB — Terence Kerns, T. Johnson, Sr.

Rushed for 1,734 yards and 24 touchdowns in less than 10 games during the regular season. Signed with West Virginia University.

RB — Brandon Dever Glenelg, Sr.

Ground up 1,604 yards on the ground with 18 TD’s. Averaged seven yards per carry for the 8-3 Gladiators.

RB — Cruz Mannherz, Tuscarora, Sr.

Bruising back went for 1,333 yards and 14 TD’s.

WR – Jared Heffler, Liberty, Sr.

Hauled in 44 passes for 779 yards (17.7 yards per catch) with 10 TD’s.

WR— Chris Thompson, Frederick, Sr.

Caught 34 passes for 580 yards (17.1 yards per catch) and six touchdowns.

WR— C.J. Thomas, Linganore, Jr.

Caught 26 passes for 379 yards (14.5 yards per catch) and six TD’s for the Monocacy Valley Athletic League’s Chesapeake Conference champs.

TE — Cliff May, Linganore, Sr.

Perhaps the most ferocious blocking tight end in the entire Monocacy Valley Athletic League. Was first team Chesapeake Conference pick.

OL — Shannon Breen, Linganore, Sr.

Six-foot-four inch 265-pound center made first-team All-MVAL Chesapeake Conference.

OL — Andrew Crown, Middletown, Sr.

Helped pave the way for the Knights smash-mouth running attack.

OL – Seth Haines, Brunswick, Sr.

Athletic lineman was a force on both sides of the ball. First team All-MVAL Antietam Conference

OL – Kevin Parrish, Urbana, Sr.

A main cog in helping to spring prolific running back Ryan Smith. First team All Chesapeake Conference.

OL – Jamar Watson, Glenelg, Sr.

Another two-way standout lineman, Watson was an All-Howard County first-team center.

All-Purpose – Kevin Linehan, Middletown, Sr.

As a quarterback, Linehan passed for 11 TD’s and rushed for another 10. Defensively, the sure tackling DB made three interceptions.

K —- Billy West, Glenelg, Sr.

Nailed nine out of 10 field goals and 33 out of 34 extra points. Booted three field goals of over 40 yards. Also a solid starting quarterback.


DL – Robert Bennett, Linganore, Sr.

At 6-1, 275 pounds, was quick enough to get to the quarterback nine times. Also had 109 total tackles, including 19 for loss.

DL — Ryan Gilligan, Middletown, Sr.

Rangy defensive end ravaged opposing backfields, collecting 16 quarterback sacks.

DL — Steve Kamaromy, Cenutry, Sr.

First team All-Carroll County and Chesapeake Conference lineman made 53 tackles and eight sacks to help the Knights reach the .500 mark for the first time in school history.

DL – Pat McCarrick, Middletown, Sr.

A standout on both sides of the ball, McCarrick, who lined up at both defensive end and linebacker, was a first-team All-Piedmont Conference performer.

DL – Jeff Phillips, Linganore, Sr.

Chesapeake Conference Player of the Year turned in a monster season, including 104 tackles, 10 sacks and 24 tackles for loss.

LB — Todd Cox, Linganore, Jr.

Big-hitter racked up a team-best 109 tackles on the year.

LB — Quentin Ferguson, Frederick, Sr.

Collected what may be an area-high 218 tackles for the Cadets.

LB — J.D. Jones, Thomas Johnson, Sr.

A defensive force for the Patriots with 102 tackles and nine sacks.

LB — Chris Monteil, Century, Jr.

Undersized missle linebacker (5-9, 185) made 135 stops in 10 games for the Knights. Also made first-team All-Carroll County team.

DB — Colton Eureka, Catoctin, Sr.

A big play man on both sides of the football, Eureka picked off four passes at defensive back and caught seven touchdowns as a wide receiver.

DB — Mike Jarboe, Urbana, Sr.

Hoops standout picked off three passes as a defensive back, earning a spot on the All-Chesapeake Conference squad.

DB — Steven Peach, Linganore, Sr.

Superb open field tackler grabbed three interceptions while rushing for nearly 1,000 yards at running back.

DB — Ryan Pentz, Century, Sr.

Named Player of the Year in Carroll County, Pentz was the heart and soul of the Knights squad, picking off four passes. He also rushed for over 1,00 yards and caught 27 passes.

DB — Josh Puckett, Linganore, Sr.

Considered his team’s top athlet by the coaching staff, the special teams ace picked off four passes for the Lancers.

P —- Jimmy Roche, Urbana, Sr.

Averaged a stellar 46 yards per punt for the Hawks.

KR —- Theron Johnson, Century, Sr.

Ran back two kickoffs for touchdowns, averaging 31.5 yards per return. Also kicked off.
