WBO luncheon offers insights on networking

A networking luncheon and membership meeting sponsored by the Women Business Owners of Montgomery County will be held beginning 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Rockville Hilton, 1750 Rockville Pike. The event will feature networking techniques described by Lynne Waymon of Contacts Count at the organization’s November dinner forum.

Building associationpresents 2007 awards

Two members of the Maryland-National Capital Building Industry Association received leadership awards at a Nov. 30 reception at the Columbia Country Club in Chevy Chase.

Roy F. Kilby, president of K&P Builders Inc., was named the 2007 recipient of the association’s Milton E. Kettler Award. The award is presented in honor of a lifetime achievement of unselfish participation, contributions and service not only to the association and the building industry but also to the community and society.

Stephen Spano, executive vice president and chief operating officer of Loiederman Soltesz Associates Inc., was selected as the 2007 recipient of the association’s Joseph C. Rodgers Sr. Award. The award is presented to a non-builder member in recognition of outstanding contributions in leadership, membership support and overall association participation.

Choice Hotelsvice president named‘Powerful Player’

Brian Parker, vice president of emerging markets and new business development for Choice Hotels International of Silver Spring, was named to Black Enterprise magazine’s “The Hot List: America’s Most Powerful Players Under 40“ for the second time.
