It's never too early to learn about community service.
Children ages 2-6 at The Jefferson Montessori School in Gaithersburg have been collecting spaghetti sauce and pasta since Dec. 1 in an effort that educators dubbed "On Top of Spaghetti."
The food will be donated to Gaithersburg Help.
Sharon Gilder, an administrator, said in a statement that students have been learning about helping others and decorating containers to transport the jars and bags and boxes of pasta. The Kindergarten Club sorted the pastas and sauces to determine the most popular, then boxed them for delivery.
