George Victor Green, 51, of Laurel was arrested Aug. 5 in connection with more than 20 nighttime home break-ins that occurred during a three-week period in July. He was charged with first-, third- and fourth-degree burglary, but all of the charges were dropped, and Green was expected to be released shortly from the Department of Corrections, his attorney, Tilman Dunbar said Wednesday.
Prince George's County Police detective Lt. Edward Davey said the case that was dropped was the only burglary in which police had enough evidence to seek a conviction.
Police issued a warrant for Green's arrest after they said his image was caught on a security camera from one of the homes in a neighborhood that was burglarized. Green remains a prime suspect in the remainder of the burglaries, Davey said.
