DEALS
L-3 Communications of New York agreed to acquire Chesapeake Sciences Corp. of Millersville, which produces anti-submarine warfare systems and is expected to generate about $70 million in sales in 2009.
McShea Management of Gaithersburg was selected by the W.C. & A.N. Miller Cos. as exclusive property management agent for Sumner Highlands, a 125-unit apartment complex in Bethesda.
Zymetis Inc. and Traffax Inc. are the first two recipients of grants from the new Chesapeake Bay Seed Capital Fund, administered by the Maryland Technology Enterprise Institute, or Mtech, at the University of Maryland. The fund will invest $250,000 annually over a three-year period in Maryland startups with technologies that may help improve water quality in the Chesapeake Bay. Zymetis, a biotech that is developing an enzyme product to produce ethanol from biomass, is receiving $100,000. Traffax, which develops technology to monitor traffic patterns and travel times using Bluetooth technology, is receiving $50,000.
Aetea Information Technology is acquiring ecipient Technologies of Ruxton, which will join Aetea's Solutions Group in Rockville.
Ollie's Bargain Outlet signed a lease for 33,000 square feet at Columbia East Marketplace in Columbia and plans to open in the spring.
Catapult Technology of Bethesda won two contracts worth $625,000 to provide information technology services to the Small Business Administration.

Faison Enterprises of Charlotte, N.C., sold Stone House Square, a 250,000-square-foot shopping center anchored by a Weis supermarket in Hagerstown, to the Oekos Group of Companies.
