Sandra Orellana of Rockville attends a vigil on Tuesday night for her son Ricardo, 16, who died that morning from injuries sustained in a car accident that occurred on Monday in Rockville. Classmate Oswaldo Rosales, 16, of Sandy Spring died at the scene when the car in which he and Orellana were passengers veered off the road and struck a tree on Avery Road near Norbeck Road. The driver was hospitalized with non life-threatening injuries.

A second teen died today as a result of a single-car collision Monday afternoon in Rockville. One teen was pronounced dead at the scene and the driver was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, county police said.
All three are reported to be students at Richard Montgomery High School in Rockville.
Just after 4 p.m. Monday, Jose Miguel Gomez, 19, of Rockville was driving a 1997 Nissan Altima south in the 14800 block of Avery Road near Norbeck Road when for unknown reasons he lost control of the car, striking a tree, police said. He remains hospitalized.
Ricardo Orellana, 16, of Rockville, a passenger in the rear of the vehicle, succumbed to his injuries this morning, police reported.
Oswaldo Rosales, 16, of Sandy Spring, who was in the front passenger seat, died at the scene, police said. Police said Rosales was not wearing a seat belt.
No charges have been filed.
The investigation is continuing. Anyone who witnessed the collision and has not spoken to police is asked to call the Collision Reconstruction Unit at 301-840-2435.
