With slots, players will be losers

The Oct. 29 letters, "Readers blast support of slots," truly felt winning. The money the state's slot proponents will gain does mean many players, hoodwinked into handing over, will be losers, not winners. That's the way it has to be in order to amass revenues (taxes).
That voters succumbed to the gambit that the take will fund schools, surprised me after the election. The slots ad about gambling money from Marylanders going to Virginia really worked this time.
What surprised me even more is that there was no opposing ad. Ah, the powerful "educational" commercial, that struck a responsive chord after resisting slots all these years!
