It has come to my attention that the Wheaton Veterans Park adjacent to American Legion Post 268 has come under consideration by county planners for relocation.
Although this is considered future planning for the downtown Wheaton area and may not actually come about, we all well know how such thoughts can snowball and become a reality.
As a veteran of Korea and Vietnam and a member of American Legion Post 268, as well as VFW Post 2562 for over 25 years, I urge county planners and [County Executive Ike] Leggett to forget such plans and leave the Wheaton Veterans Park where in as always been and where it belongs.
In plain language: "Leave the Wheaton Veterans Park alone."
