Thank you for your support
|
My family and I would like to thank the citizens of College Park, especially residents of Calvert Hills, Old Town, College Park Estates, Yarrow and the University of Maryland, who came out to participate in our democratic process of electing representatives to their City Council and [for] their votes to successfully re-elect me.
I am especially proud of all the wonderful volunteers who worked tirelessly to achieve our campaign's goal of increasing voter turnout to nearly 11 percent.
Just as we did last year, when I was a field organizer and delegate for Barack Obama, each and everyone one of us can make a difference. And you did, dozens of people, from 16 to 71, many who had never volunteered on a political campaign before, gave their time and energy to keep our republic alive and participatory.
In this next term in office, I will work to reopen the Calvert Road school as a public school, improve public safety, make our city more family friendly, persist in the fight for Metro's Purple Line, continue the enforcement of housing codes and noise restrictions, and move our city to the forefront of clean energy policy.
Mark Cook, District 3 councilman, College Park
