Author Robert Barry's whimsical Christmas tale, "Mr. Willowby's Christmas Tree," will return to Way Off Broadway Children's Theatre on Saturday for the first time since its debut there in 2005. The holiday production, which follows the titular evergreen as it is trimmed again and again benefiting woodland families of various sizes, remains one of only two adaptations of Barry's book the other being a 1995 television special courtesy of Jim Henson's Muppets. And while Way Off Broadway's adaptation does not involve Kermit the Frog, kids of all ages will most certainly be seeing a lot of green this weekend.
The tenth anniversary of "A Little Song, A Little Dance" will be held Saturday at Frederick's Cultural Arts Center, featuring twelve female impersonators offering up what the event's title suggests. The World AIDS Day fundraiser was conceived by Lois Jarman and Pam Neely in honor of friend and Frederick theatrical icon Roger Nicodemus. The event will feature a silent auction and funds raised will be donated to local nonprofits.
