Col. E. Brooke Lee Middle School will host Family Fun Night at 7 p.m. Nov. 19 at the school, 11800 Monticello Ave., Silver Spring. The event will feature "The Brain Show," a free interactive trivia game sponsored by the school PTSA with teams of families competing. Students will play the game during the day and return that evening with families and friends for more challenge and fun. The event also will include free pizza samples and a bake sale. to host houseplant expert
Having trouble keeping those houseplants looking fresh and healthy? Green your thumb and plant yourself at the Takoma Park Community Center at 7500 Maple Ave. for a presentation by Joan O'Roarke beginning at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 19.
O'Roarke, a founder of the Friends of Brookside Gardens group, will give advice on choosing the right plants and how to keep them graciously green and gorgeously gardened. She will also be available to answer questions following her presentation and demonstrations.

Strengthen your stream stewardship skills
A workshop titled "Strengthening Stream Stewardship," which aims to increase residents' stewardship skills in the Anacostia River watershed, will be held 9 a.m. to noon Saturday in the auditorium at Brookside Gardens, 1800 Glenallan Ave. in Wheaton.
