The regular season for area high school football teams ended on Saturday, and 10 Prince George's County squads have qualified for the postseason. Public and private school playoffs get under way next weekend.
In the 4A South Region, Eleanor Roosevelt (10-0) will have the No. 1 seed and will be at home against Henry A. Wise (7-3), which earned the No. 4 spot with its victory against Oxon Hill on Saturday. Roosevelt won the regular season meeting between the teams on Oct. 3, erasing a 22-point deficit in the second half to win 24-22. In the other 4A South semifinal game, Charles H. Flowers (9-1) will play host to Suitland (8-2) in a rematch of a Nov. 1 game that Flowers won in overtime, 20-14.
In the 3A South Region, Friendly (8-2) has the No. 2 seed and will be at home next weekend against No. 3 Westlake (8-2). The other 3A South game will match No. 1 Huntingtown against No. 4 Lackey.
With its victory against Gwynn Park on Saturday, Frederick Douglass High earned the No. 3 seed in the 2A South Region, and the Eagles (8-2) will travel to North Point (8-2). Gwynn Park (8-2) has the No. 4 seed and will travel to Howard County to face top-seeded River Hill (10-0).
Despite a 5-5 record, Forestville took the No. 4 seed in the 1A South Region, and the Knights will travel to Baltimore to face top-seeded Dunbar, the two-time defending 1A state champion. The Poets are 9-1, their only loss coming in the opening game of the season when they surrendered a late touchdown in a 33-32 loss to Gwynn Park.
The county's two teams in the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference both made the league playoffs. DeMatha (7-2) has the No. 2 seed and will take on third-seeded St. John's (6-3) at 7 p.m. Friday at the Sports & Learning Complex in Landover. DeMatha beat St. John's 34-6 on Nov. 1.
Though the McNamara lost to DeMatha in the regular season finale on Friday, the Mustangs got the No. 4 seed. McNamara will travel to Olney this coming week to take on undefeated Good Counsel, which was a 42-6 winner against McNamara on Oct. 18.

County 3A/2A/1A League
Potomac 21, Largo 6
For much of the season Potomac and Largo kept themselves in playoff contention in the 3A South Region. But after the Lions were eliminated in Week 8 and the Wolverines were eliminated in Week 9, Saturday’s head-to-head contest in Oxon Hill was for sole possession of fourth place in the County 3A/2A/1A League. Potomac (6-4 overall, 5-3 in the league) struck three times in the first half and went on to beat the Lions, who finished 5-5, 4-4, good for fifth in the league.
Potomac senior quarterback James Seay tossed a 40-yard touchdown pass to Steven Darden, a 35-yard scoring pass to DeAndre Montgomery and a 21-yard TD pass to Devonta Tabannah. The Wolverines held a 14-0 lead at halftime and extended the cushion to 21-0 in the second half.
Daquan Markham scored Largo’s only points on a one-yard run in the third quarter. He also led the Lions’ rushing attack with 43 yards on nine carries and completed 10 of 16 passes for 138 yards. Kevin Turrentine caught three passes for 51 yards and Thomas Dixon also had three catches for 32 yards. Dondra Hunt-Owens and Dennis Wolley caught two passes each.
Surrattsville 26, Crossland 21
The Hornets ended the season with a victory as Joseph Rollins carried 22 times for 165 yards and Aurelius Kitchens added 68 yards on 14 carries. The teams traded touchdowns in the fourth quarter, each scoring 14 points in the period. Crossland had the ball at midfield and threw a pass up for grabs on the last play of the game that could have given the Cavaliers the winning points.
"It went down to the very end, it was gut-wrenching," said Surrattsville coach Robert Harris, who guided his team to a 3-7 mark in his first season. "It was exciting to get this win in this last game. I'm happy for the kids that we ended on a good note. We've got a lot to build on."
William Wright Jr. had four tackles and an interception to lead the Surrattsville defense. Milton McLean and Andre Williams also had interceptions. Leo Storre had two catches for 55 yards.
Forestville 25, Fairmont Heights 7
Forestville senior quarterback Caleb Gaines threw two touchdown passes, ran for a score and also returned a punt 42 yards for a touchdown.
Antonio Belt caught both of Gaines’ touchdown passes, and had six catches for 120 yards. Gaines completed 10 of 16 passes for 160 yards. Junior quarterback Niko Boswell-Johnson scored Fairmont Heights only touchdown with a 10-yard run in the second quarter.
