Masked man rapes housekeeper at Motel 6
by Patricia M. Murret | Staff Writer
Montgomery County Police detectives are investigating a rape that occurred around noon Thursday at the Motel 6 at 497 Quince Orchard Road in Gaithersburg.
A masked man sexually assaulted a 24-year-old female housekeeper inside the motel room she had been cleaning, said Lucille Baur, a county police spokeswoman.
The woman had left the door to the room open, with her cleaning cart "just outside the door," said Baur. She heard the door slam and then the man attacked her.
"This is preliminary information," said Baur, who said that Gaithersburg and Montgomery County Police from the 6th District responded at approximately 12:05 p.m. to the motel, after a woman called police and that the victim was taken to a hospital for treatment. The man did not use a weapon and the woman did not suffer additional injury beyond the rape, said Capt. Paul Starks, county police spokesman.
Detectives are looking for a black male with short hair who is approximately 6 feet tall and weighs more than 200 pounds, Baur said.
The woman told police her attacker wore a mask, green sweater, black pants and a gold necklace, Baur said. Following the attack, the victim saw the man who had raped her driving a green four-door vehicle from behind the motel toward the front of the building.
Baur could not provide details on the car and would not say whether police have identified or interviewed other witnesses. She said police do not believe the man is affiliated with the motel.
Anyone with information about the assault or potential suspects are asked to call 240-773-5070. Callers may remain anonymous.
