Forest Heights mayor placed on administrative leave

Friday, Nov. 4, 2005

Forest Heights Mayor Joyce Beck, who is an employee for the Prince George’s County Department of Environmental Resources, has been placed on administrative leave with pay, a county official said.

This action was taken as Beck faces charges for allegedly assaulting a Forest Heights police officer and former councilwoman, with those cases set to be heard in Calvert County.

County spokesperson John Erzen confirmed that the deputy chief administrative officer, who oversees the department, was placed Beck on administrative leave, but he would not elaborate on the reason for the action.
