The winner and finalist in each draw at regionals earns a bid to the state tournament next spring. Pinsky defeated Quince Orchard's Melissa Minniti, 6-1, 6-0, for her first-ever regional title.
Two-time reigning mixed doubles state champion Sarah Macy picked up her third consecutive regional title, this time with sophomore Nicky Gottret in the girls doubles bracket. The Vikings' top two singles players defeated Walter Johnson's Sarah Andrews and Sarah Bernstein in straight sets.
A highly anticipated tiebreak match between Pinsky and Bethesda-Chase freshman Anna Rozenberg did not occur Friday because Rozenberg was forced to withdraw from the tournament with an ankle injury.
The two split their previous two matches; Rozenberg defeated Pinsky in three sets during the regular season and Pinsky came from a set down to win in three en route to the Bulldogs' third consecutive county tournament title Monday. Rozenberg withdrew from that match because of the injury while down 0-4 in the third set.
