The summer's winding down. Soon the leaves will turn brown, red, yellow and every color of the rainbow. What a beautiful sight. Then comes the rude awakening: The county won't be vacuuming up your leaves this year or ever again? Someone said it was a luxury. It cost the county of [Prince George's] about a million dollars-plus to do this chore. You have to bag em.
For the young, it might not be a chore, but for the seniors who benefited from the leaf vacuuming, it will be costly and hard to bag the leaves themselves.
Did they do an environmental impact study? Some people will bag em, some will blow the leaves to the gutter, some won't get the word, some won't rake the leaves at all and some might burn them. The rain and snow melting will wash them and contaminates to the sewer and Chesapeake Bay sewers to contaminate the Bay. The county government cuts out everything that intimidates the taxpayer to raise taxes. The leaf program was a necessity, not a luxury. Taxpayers of Prince George's County aren't protected by a balanced government, and the ruling party does what they want.
