Hood College Theatre will present its fall production, Harold Pinter's drama "Old Times," at 8 p.m. Oct. 29-30, 2 p.m. Oct. 31 and 8 p.m. Nov. 5-7 at the Avalon Performing Arts Studio in the Tatem Arts Center, 401 Rosemont Ave., Frederick.
Directed by Joe Brady, director of Hood College Theatre, "Old Times" delves into the past and present lives of three people, illuminating the unspoken doubts and tensions which rise between them. The characters, a middle-aged couple and a visiting friend from their separate pasts, indulge in unsettling mind games and in conversations that alternate between perception and reality as the action shifts back and forth in time.
Pinter, a Nobel laureate, was among the most influential British playwrights of modern times. During his 50-year writing career he produced 29 original stage plays, 27 screenplays, and numerous dramatic sketches, radio and television plays, as well as poetry, a novel, short fiction and essays. He is best known for his plays "The Birthday Party," "The Caretaker," "The Homecoming" and "Betrayal," each of which was adapted to film. He also directed nearly 50 stage, television and film productions and acted extensively in radio, stage, television and film productions of his own and others' works.
Admission is $10, students and Hood faculty and staff tickets are $5 and Hood students are free. Tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis at the door beginning 30 minutes before showtime.
