Sandy Spring Friends to host theater events
Sandy Spring Friends School will hold two theater events on Oct. 23 and 28.
The annual Maryland High School Theater College Fair will be held 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 23 in the school's Performing Arts Center. The day will provide an opportunity for colleges to hear student auditions in the morning and host callbacks/interviews in the afternoon. Tables for college representatives will be set up in the long hallway behind the stage and auditions will take place on the stage.
Last year, more than 60 students received offers to attend callbacks for scholarships and financial aid as well as admissions to the 15 colleges and universities that attended, according to a press release from the school. Recent Maryland High School Theater College Fairs have included representatives from Carnegie Mellon University, Pennsylvania State University, McDaniel College, Towson University, Point Park University, Catholic University, University of Maryland, Baltimore County, University of Virginia and more.
The school will also host the annual Maryland High School Theater Improvisational Festival 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 28 in its Performing Arts Center. Two hundred fifty to 350 students and teachers from public and private schools across the state are expected to attend. Professional actors will be conducting workshops throughout the day.
Sandy Spring Friends School is located at 16923 Norwood Road in Sandy Spring.
