Adventist lauded for vision

Washington Adventist Hospital has an opportunity to continue local services in Takoma Park while providing a learning place for health care people. Columbia Union College is just across the street ("Adventist lifts veil on Takoma Park campus," Sept. 24 editorial).
Development of present hospital facilities in Takoma Park into a campus should provide a civilian training counterpart to the military medical campus in Bethesda, which combines the National Naval Medical Center, Walter Reed Hospital and the Uniformed Services University.
The Takoma Park campus would use existing facilities and help to fill the nation's nurse, medic, paramedic and pre-med shortage. Such an opportunity is rare, and Adventist should be complimented for its vision to provide local services while training badly needed people as its main facility is moved to its new Calverton-White Oak location.
This should remove any concern since both campuses are designed for people-friendly and convenient medical services.
