Rockville man charged with sexually assaulting exchange student Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2006 E-Mail This Article | Print This Story by Stephanie Siegel Staff Writer A Rockville man was arrested on Monday for sexually assaulting a 15-year-old foreign exchange student who was spending a night in his home, police said.
Stanley David Schwartz, 64, of the unit block of Calabash Court in the Willows of Potomac neighborhood, was charged with sex abuse of a minor, fourth-degree sex offense and second-degree assault, a Montgomery County Police Department release said.
He is being held at the Montgomery County Detention Center on $100,000 bond, the release said.
Through their investigation police learned the following details, according to the release:
On Aug. 28, the 15-year-old boy, who was assigned to live with a family outside of Montgomery County, planned to attend a social event. However, his host family had a conflicting engagement that evening and was unable to pick him up.
Schwartz, who sometimes serves as a host parent or respite host parent for the youth exchange program, agreed to act as a respite host and pick up the boy that night and allow him to sleep at his house.
As the boy was preparing for bed, he asked Schwartz where he should sleep. Schwartz directed the boy to his bedroom. The boy went to bed alone, but at some time during the night, Schwartz got in bed with him and sexually assaulted him.
Detectives would like to hear from anyone else who may have been a victim of inappropriate conduct on the part of Schwartz. Calls should be made to Family Crimes Detective Satinsky at 240-773-5421.
