Gaithersburg⁄Montgomery Village

The following is a summary of incidents in Gaithersburg to which the Montgomery County Police responded recently. The words ‘‘arrested” and ‘‘charged” do not imply guilt.

Armed robbery

On Sept. 27 at 11:15 p.m., a 24-year-old Germantown man was lured to the area of the 20000 block of Cinnabar Drive in Gaithersburg by a female acquaintance. Once there, three to four black males, 18-20, displayed a machete and guns. They assaulted and robbed him of personal property.

On Sept. 25 at 12:15 p.m., a 46-year-old Montgomery Village man was in the area of the unit block of Tindal Springs Court in Montgomery Village when he was approached by two suspects. One suspect displayed a gun and the other suspect took the victim’s fanny pack. Both suspects then fled the scene on foot in an unknown direction. Suspect No. 1 was described as a black male, 17-21, 5 feet 5 inches to 5 feet 7 inches tall, 160-170 pounds, black shirt. Suspect No. 2 was described as a black male, 17-21, 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 7 inches tall, 150-170 pounds, white T-shirt, black slipper shoes.

On Sept. 16 at 11:30 p.m., a 19-year-old Germantown man was lured by a female suspect, who he had known for two days, to the rear of a residence in the 20000 block of Cinnabar Road in Gaithersburg where she said she lived. The victim was robbed at gunpoint by three black males in the yard behind the above address. Suspect No. 1 was described as a white female, 20, 5 feet 3 inches tall, 120 pounds, red hair, blue jeans, white shirt. Suspects No. 2, No. 3, and No. 4 were described as black males, 17-18, 6 feet tall, 150 pounds, braids hair, blue jeans, white sneakers, black bandana.

On Sept. 24 at 9 p.m., two Gaithersburg men, 20 and 37, were returning from the market and were walking in a drainage ditch in the field behind the unit block of East Diamond Avenue in Gaithersburg when they were stopped by approximately eight suspects. They asked the victims for money and one of the suspects had a knife. Cash was obtained.

On Aug. 19 at 10:50 p.m., a 36-year-old Gaithersburg man was in front of the apartment complex in the 500 block of South Frederick Avenue when three black male suspects and one white male approached him from behind. They asked the victim for his wallet. He refused. Then one of the suspects hit the victim with a bat rendering him unconscious. They took cash from the victim. The white suspect is known.


On Sept. 15 at 1:07 p.m., James Michael Legg, 43, no fixed address, was arrested and charged with having a concealed deadly weapon. The arrest was a result of officers investigating a suspicious situation in the 400 block of North Frederick Avenue in Gaithersburg.


On Sept. 23 at approximately 5 a.m., a 19-year-old man from Gaithersburg was stabbed when he was outside the 500 block of South Frederick Avenue in Gaithersburg. The two suspects responsible have been identified.

On Sept. 21 at approximately 7:15 a.m., a 39-year-old male victim from Rockville was outside after operating a recycling truck in the 18600 block of Pier Point Place in Gaithersburg when he became engaged in a verbal altercation with a man and woman. She got into her car and tried to block the victim’s access to pick up recycling bins. She then accelerated towards him and ran over his foot and struck his arm with her windshield.

Assault arrest

On Aug. 18 at approximately 11:30 a.m., a 24-year-old male from Gaithersburg was out in the parking lot of Lakeforest Mall at 701 Russell Ave. in Gaithersburg. A 43-year-old woman tried to bite the victim and tried to run him over with her car. Donna Rochelle Bailey, of the 9900 block of Brookridge Court in Montgomery Village was arrested.

Burglary arrest

On Sept. 23 at approximately 3:31 a.m. in the 7500 block of Hackamore Drive in Potomac the suspect was seen at the rear of the residence attempting to open the door. The suspect was still in the vicinity when officers arrived. Terrence Eugene Hawkins, 23, of the 400 block of West Diamond Avenue in Gaithersburg was arrested.

Commercial burglary

QBIT, 704 Quince Orchard Ave. in Gaithersburg, between 8:30 p.m. on Sept. 13 and 9:30 a.m. on Sept. 14. Unknown entry, nothing taken.

El Salvadoreno Latin Market, 441 South Frederick Ave. in Gaithersburg, between 11:30 and 11:40 p.m. on Sept. 7. Forced entry, food taken.

Montgomery County Airpark, 7940 Airpark Road in Gaithersburg, between 11 p.m. on Sept. 17 and 7 a.m. on Sept. 18. Broke rear window, damaged ATM machine.

Residential burglary

900 block of Clopper Road in Gaithersburg, between 11:45 p.m. on Sept. 16 and midnight on Sept. 17. No forced entry, property taken.
