The middle school at the Connelly School of the Holy Child celebrated its 20th anniversary Friday with a school-wide scavenger hunt, open house, and barbecue.
The event brought together current students and faculty, families, and a few alumnae.
"Twenty years ago, this school was really designed very carefully to accommodate middle school students," said Head of School Mary Hopkins. "I think celebrating that was important for the school, and it gave the girls a real sense of its history."
In the weeks leading up to the celebration, students worked on presentations about the history of the middle school and how it has grown over the past 20 years. Hopkins said the projects will serve as the first step in archiving school history.
More than 80 students attend the middle school.
In addition to the historic implications of the day, the students were also able to cut loose with a barbecue and cheer on their classmates at volleyball and field hockey games.
"It really was just a great day for the entire community," said Hopkins, who has been at the school for 17 years.
