Two critically injured in stolen truck crash Thursday, Sept. 28, 2006 Three people were injured Wednesday — two critically — in a crash involving a stolen truck in Maryland City, police said.
Police apprehended the truck’s driver shortly after the accident but were continuing their search for a passenger on Thursday, Anne Arundel County Police said.
A stolen Dodge Durango with Texas plates, briefly pursued by police, struck two cars on a curved section of Brock Bridge Road shortly after 10 a.m. Wednesday. Police said an officer pursuing the truck in his patrol car turned off his lights and slowed down after trying unsuccessfully to initiate a traffic stop for an alleged speeding violation.
Police said the truck first struck an oncoming Honda minivan, critically injuring driver Lavinia Ann Solan and passenger Beverly Gales. Both were taken to shock trauma and listed in critical but stable condition, police said Thursday.
Monalisa Gribble, the driver of a Mercury minivan also hit by the Durango, was transported to Laurel Regional Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, police said.
Addresses were unavailable for all three victims.
The driver, a 17-year-old male from Laurel, was charged with felony theft and multiple traffic violations. Police said the Durango was traveling 46 mph in a 25-mph zone.
The at-large passenger is described as a black male and was last see wearing a white T-shirt and dark pants, police said.
Police said the Durango was stolen from the 2900 block of Greenwich Court in Crofton earlier on Wednesday.
