The Upcounty Regional Services Center, an extension of county government that provides services to Darnestown and North Potomac, generally considers the area west of Route 28 to be North Potomac, but that's not something with which residents always agree. North Potomac's boundaries vary depending on who defines them. There are at least five groups defining those boundaries — the county, three local civic groups and the U.S. Census Bureau — and each group's definition varies slightly.
