Laurel resident Shayna Myles exits the Phelps Center after voting Sept. 8 in the special referendum election. Myles said the proposed pay raises for the mayor and City Council were out of line given that the Laurel Boys & Girls Club has struggled to pay for facility upgrades. More than 800 people turned out to vote in the election.
