Mackie Barch, a Kensington town councilman, launched the Vintners Charitable Cooperative on Monday, a company that raises money for charities by linking their supporters up with boutique vintners through wine clubs. Half the net proceeds from the wine sales will be given to partner charities, but because direct delivery of wine is illegal in Maryland, no local wine lovers can participate, something Barch is lobbying to change.
