County signs trade pactwith Republic of China
Officials from Prince George’s County and the Zhenjiang Municipality Delegation of the People’s Republic of China on Tuesday signed an agreement to foster trade and economic development in Prince George’s and China.
The agreement was drafted at the request of the Zhenjiang city government to form a ‘‘working relationship” with county government after discussions that began last October.
‘‘This bridge will carry trade between two continents. But most of all the bridge shows how cooperation between people who live thousands of miles away will work together as partners to increase opportunities in the areas of economy, trade, education and culture,” County Executive Jack B. Johnson (D) said in a statement.
‘‘Prince George’s County is now the new China,” Johnson joked at Tuesday’s press conference announcing the agreement.
