Silver Spring man charged with raping his ex-girlfriend
Neighbor helped woman call police
A Silver Spring man was arrested Saturday morning outside his Piney Branch Road apartment after allegedly raping his ex-girlfriend, Montgomery County Police say.
Roberto Samayoa-Pineda, 35, of the 9300 block of Piney Branch Road, arranged to meet an ex-girlfriend at his apartment building to talk Saturday morning, according to a police news release. It was then that he allegedly physically assaulted and raped her, the release said.
The woman was able to get out of the apartment and find a neighbor, who then called police. As Samayoa-Pineda fled the apartment building, officers arrived around 11:25 a.m. and arrested him outside the building, said Lt. Paul Starks, a police spokesman.
"Everyone knew each other in this case, so that made identification [of the suspect] and the investigation less challenging than others," Starks said.
Samayoa-Pineda has been charged with first-degree rape and first-degree assault and is being held at the Montgomery County Detention Center without bond. The victim suffered no serious injuries, Starks said.
As of late Tuesday morning, there was no attorney listed for Samayoa-Pineda in Montgomery County District Court case files.
