Silver Spring district

Strong-armed robberies

*Aug. 13: Two men assaulted a victim and took property about 9:20 p.m. in the 8000 block of Eastern Avenue. The robbers were black, between 18 and 25 years old, 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet tall. No information about the victim was provided by police.

*Aug. 10: A man and a woman took property from a victim 4:15 p.m. in the 700 block of Beacon Road. The man was black, about 25 years old, 6 feet tall and 200 pounds. The woman was black, between 18 and 20 years old, 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighed 150 pounds.

Aggravated assault

*Aug. 8: A man threatened a victim with a hammer 8:15 p.m. in the 700 block of Silver Spring Avenue. The man was black, in his mid-20s; no further description was provided by police, who provided no information on the victim.

Commercial burglaries

*University Boulevard East, 600 block, 3:27 a.m. Aug. 9. Forced entry; property taken.

*Long Branch Library, 8800 Garland Avenue, between 8:20 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. Aug. 9. Forced entry; property taken.

*Duffie Inc., 1721 Elton Road, 8:45 p.m. Aug. 10. Forced entry; property taken.

*Community Radiology Associates, 11120 New Hampshire Ave., 2 p.m. Aug. 12. Forced entry; property taken. Police are seeking a suspect. He was black, between 25 and 30 years old, 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet tall and weighed between 160 and 180 pounds. He was in a small silver station wagon.

Assault

*Aug. 17: A woman struck a female worker 1:45 p.m. during an argument at a business in the 7600 block of New Hampshire Avenue. The victim was not hurt.

Stolen autos⁄attempts

*Glenside Drive, 7400 block, between 11 p.m. Aug. 17 and 9:30 a.m. Aug. 18. Unknown method of theft; 1995 Acura Integra taken.

Commercial burglaries

*New Hampshire Avenue, 7600 block, between 1 a.m. and 5:27 a.m. Aug. 24. Front door damaged; attempt only.

Residential burglaries

*Albany Avenue, 500 block, between 9 a.m. Aug. 10 and 1 a.m. Aug. 18. Entry gained through basement door; property taken.

Arrests

*Aug. 17: A man was charged with two counts of second-degree assault and one count of destruction of property 11 a.m. in the 6500 block of Eastern Avenue for a domestic incident.

*Aug. 18: A man was charged with consuming alcohol in public 6:10 p.m. in the 7600 block of New Hampshire Avenue.

*Aug. 19: A man was charged with consuming alcohol in public 11:45 a.m. in the 1300 block of University Boulevard.

*Aug. 21: A man was charged with disorderly conduct 3:40 a.m. in the 7600 block of Carroll Avenue.

Wheaton-Glenmont district

Armed robberies

*Aug. 13: Two men, one with a handgun, took property from a man 11:37 p.m. at Aspen Hill Road and Grenoble Drive. The men were black; no further description was provided.

*Aug. 11: Three men, one with a baseball bat, assaulted a man and took property 8:15 p.m. on Barbara Road. Police did not provide further details on the assault or the victim’s condition. Two of the robbers were Hispanic and one was black; no further description was provided.

Strong-armed robberies

*Aug. 12: Seven people assaulted and robbed a man 11:20 p.m. in the 3300 block of Weeping Willow Court after they followed the victim from a bus stop. The robbers were black, five men and two women; no further description was provided by police.

Aggravated assault

*Aug. 11: A man driving a Ford pickup truck pointed a handgun at four men in the 13100 block of Hathaway Drive. The man with the gun was Hispanic, between 30 and 40 years old. The truck was tan with Maryland license plates. Two other men were seated in the front seat of the truck.

Commercial burglaries

*Uncle Dave’s American Bistro, 5500 Olney Laytonsville Road, 1:15 a.m. Aug. 14. Forced entry; property taken. Police are looking for suspects; two white men in a pickup truck.

Residential burglaries

*Haviland Mill Road, 100 block, Aug. 12. Vacant house broken into.

*Birchtree Lane, 3100 block, 11:50 a.m. Aug. 9. Forced entry; nothing taken. Police are seeking a suspect. He was white, between 18 and 22 years old, 5 feet 9 inches tall and thin. He had short blonde hair and wore a white T-shirt and blue jeans.

*Holborn Street, 900 block, between 1 p.m. Aug. 11 and 8 a.m. Aug. 12. No entry; nothing taken.

*Floral Street, 3300 block, Aug. 14. Unlocked shed; property taken.

*Kenton Court, 100 block, between 8 a.m. and 2:55 p.m. Aug. 13. Forced entry; property taken.

Stolen cars

*Seven vehicles were reported stolen in the Wheaton-Glenmont district for the week Aug. 8-15. Police did not specify where the incidents took place.
