A prisoner who escaped from police custody last night near Andrews Air Force Base remains at large, according to the Prince George’s County Police Department.

Modesto Roman Millan, a 5 foot 6 inch, 150-pound Hispanic male, was under arrest and was on his way to jail when he jumped out of a police cruiser, said Prince George’s County Police spokesman Cpl. Stephen Pacheco.

Millan was arrested for shoplifting and second degree assault in the 8700 block of Branch Avenue in Clinton at 7 p.m. Pacheco could not say the exact location of Millan’s escape or how he managed to get out of the police vehicle.

Millan was handcuffed when he escaped and police are continuing the search for him.
