Literary Series to open Oct. 18

The Friends of the Library of Montgomery County’s (FOLMC) will kick off the 20th year of the Literary Luncheon Lecture Series on Oct. 18 with literary and life partners Susan R. Shreve and Tim Seldes.

Shreve is a novelist and founder of the creative writing program at George Mason University. She will present her recent memoir, ‘‘Warm Springs,” which chronicles her life as a child polio survivor. Visit www.susanshreve.com for book excerpts and reviews.

Seldes is a literary agent and former managing editor for Doubleday. The couple will discuss reading, writing and working together.

On Nov. 15, Doro Bush Koch will present her memoir ‘‘My Father, My President: A Personal Account of the Life of George H. W. Bush.” Koch will also discuss her work to promote family literacy as Board Member for the Barbara Bush Foundation for Family Literacy.

The series, which features local authors, is held in partnership with Strathmore Hall Arts Center. Proceeds benefit Friends of the Library Montgomery County, whose mission is to support Montgomery County Public Libraries.

The programs will be held at Strathmore Hall Arts Center Mansion, located at 10701 Rockville Pike in North Bethesda. Lectures will begin at 11:30 a.m. and will be followed by a book signing and luncheon at 12:30 pm.

Books will be available for purchase. Ticket prices vary according to membership status.
