Javadi, Ali-Hassan to hold nuptials

Nahid and Hasan Javadi of Bethesda announce the engagement of their daughter, Sahar Javadi, to Shahdy Ali-Hassan, son of Cheryl Bailey and Akram Ali-Hassan. Mr. Ali-Hassan proposed while on vacation in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil overlooking a view on the top of the Corcovado Mountain.

The bride-to-be, a 1994 Walt Whitman High School graduate, earned a bachelor of arts degree from the University of California, San Diego in 1998 and a master’s degree in business administration from University of Maryland in 2005. She is a senior manager of Product Marketing at Blackboard, an educational software company, in Washington, D.C.

The prospective groom earned a bachelor of science degree in computer science from the University of Illinois in 2001. He is a senior manager of client support at Telarix, a Vienna, Va., telecom software provider.

A spring wedding is planned.
