The following is a summary of incidents in eastern Montgomery County to which Montgomery County police responded recently. The words "arrested" and "charged" do not imply guilt.
Silver Spring district
Aggravated assault
ïAug. 10: A victim was struck in the head with a bottle by one of two men he was fighting with 1 a.m. in the 8600 block of Piney Branch Road in Silver Spring.
Attempted armed robbery
ïAug. 5: Two men asked a male victim for cash and one displayed a knife when the victim said he didn't have any money about 3:50 p.m. in the 11600 block of Stewart Lane in White Oak. The victim was not injured and the robbers fled on foot.
ïAug. 12: An employee at a store in the 15700 block of Columbia Pike in Burtonsville fought a male who attempted to rob the store with a BB handgun 9:01 p.m. The would-be robber then fled.
Attempted Carjacking
ïAug. 10: A victim fought off four men, two armed with knives, who demanded his wallet and mo-ped 2:32 a.m. in the 7900 block of Georgia Avenue in Silver Spring. The victim was punched by one of the men; the men then fled in a white Jeep.

ïAug. 12: Two males tried to take a woman's purse but fled after a struggle 10:45 p.m. in the 13800 block of Castle Boulevard in the Briggs Chaney area. Nothing was taken.
Aggravated assault
ïAug. 7: A woman, 47, and her son, 27, were charged after a fight 11 a.m. in the parking lot of McDonald's at 13800 Outlet Drive in the Briggs Chaney area.
Commercial burglary
ïHampshire Estates Elementary School, 8720 Carroll Ave., 11:41 p.m. Aug. 5. Forced entry; property taken.
ïThe Medicine Shop, 12800 block of New Hampshire Avenue, 4:30 a.m. Aug. 7. Forced entry; property taken.
Residential burglary
ïRosemary Hills Drive, 1900 block, overnight between Aug. 5 and Aug. 6. Forced entry; property taken.
ïCottrell Terrace, 9900 block, 10:45 p.m. Aug. 5. Victim saw suspect attempting to gain entry. Suspect fled when motion light activated.
ïSierra Street, 9400 block, between 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Aug. 10. Unknown entry; property taken.
ïPretoria Drive, 12300 block, about noon Aug. 4. Forced entry; property taken. Police are looking for a Hispanic male, between 20 and 25 years old, 5 feet 6 inches tall and bald, driving a blue Honda.
ïSweet Clover Court, 2700 block, between 10:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Aug. 5. Forced entry; property taken.
ïSpencerville Road, 2800 block, between 9 p.m. Aug. 4 and 6:30 a.m. Aug. 5. No forced entry into a garage; vehicle stolen. Vehicle was located and a man was arrested.
ïMarlow Farm Terrace, 2900 block, 10:42 p.m. Aug. 7. Forced entry; property taken.
Theft from auto
ïSeveral vehicles were broken into in the areas of Deerfield Avenue, East Melbourne Avenue, Woodland Drive, Dennis Avenue, Elkhart Street, East Franklin Avenue and Tenbrook Drive between Aug. 5 and Aug. 11. In four incidents, Toyota/Lexus vehicles were targeted. GPS devices, tools, stereo equipment, wheels and cash were taken.
ïThree Fords were broken into in the areas of Loxford Terrace, Playford Lane and Whitttington Terrace in Silver Spring between Aug. 9 and Aug. 11. A cell phone, lawn equipment, computer equipment, iPod, and a GPS device were taken.
ïSeveral vehicles were broken into in the areas of Columbia Pike, Lockwood Drive and Tech Road in Silver Spring between Aug. 5 and Aug. 9. GPS devices, cell phones, computer equipment, cash and jewelry were taken.
ïMozart Drive, Robey Road, Old Columbia Pike, Music Master Drive, Berleigh Hill Court, Ballet Way and Dunes Way in Silver Spring between Aug. 5 and Aug. 11. In most incidents, the vehicle window was either pried or broken. GPS devices, computer equipment, cash and stereo equipment were taken.

ï16th Street, 8500 block, residential parking lot, overnight between Aug. 5 and Aug. 7. A vehicle lock and the ignition on a 1998 Ford Taurus were tampered with; suspect was unable to start the vehicle.

Robbery
ïAug. 17: Two men armed with a handgun struck a male victim around the head and face between 9:30 p.m. and 9:50 p.m. in the 1200 block of Kirklynn Avenue. The robbers took the victim's property and fled.
Assault
ïAug. 17: A man was arrested after allegedly assaulting his wife in an argument between 3:30 a.m. and 4 a.m. in the 700 block of Ethan Allen Avenue. The woman was seriously injured, according to police.

ïPoplar Avenue, 6600 block, between 9:30 p.m. Aug. 18 and 7 a.m. Aug. 19. Forced entry; property taken.
Theft
ïNew Hampshire Avenue, 7600 block, 11:01 a.m. Aug. 18. A man charged with theft under $50 after allegedly taking property placed outside the store and not paying for them.
Arrests
ïAug. 15: A man was arrested on a Montgomery County warrant charging him with failure to appear in court about 9:33 p.m. in the 6900 block of New Hampshire Avenue.
ïAug. 18: A woman was arrested on a Montgomery County warrant charging her with failure to appear in court to face charges of driving while suspended 2:25 p.m. in the 7800 block of Wildwood Drive.
ïAug. 18: A man was charged with cocaine possession about 6 p.m. in the 7900 block of Lockney Avenue.
ïAug. 19: A man was charged with trespassing about 11:45 a.m. in the 7600 block of New Hampshire Avenue.
ïAug. 19: A man was charged with marijuana possession about 6 p.m. in the unit block of Darwin Avenue.
ïAug. 20: A man was charged with marijuana possession about 8:25 p.m. in the 7900 block of Lockney Avenue.
Wheaton-Glenmont district
Residential burglary
ïIvywood Lane, 13700 block, 11 p.m. Aug. 7. An adult resident of the home heard a noise and discovered burglar had forcibly gained entrance to the house foyer. After seeing the victim, the male burglar fled; nothing was taken.
ïBushey Drive, 12700 block, 1 p.m. Aug. 4. Five males entered the house without force; property taken.
ïGreenly Street, 3500 block, between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m. Aug. 4. Forced entry; property taken.
ïWendy Lane, 3900 block, 1:25 a.m. Aug. 5. A suspect was seen but not located.
ïAndrew Street, 11900 block, between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. Aug. 5. No forced entry; property taken.
ïBrentwood Lane, 900 block, between 8:40 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. Aug. 6. Possible no forced entry; property taken.
Commercial burglary
ïCloverly Elementary School, 800 Briggs Chaney Road, Aug. 5 into Aug. 6. An attempt was made to a classroom trailer; entry was not gained and nothing was taken.
ïEl Antojito, 18068 Georgia Ave., Aug. 4 into Aug. 5. Forced entry; property taken.
Armed street robbery
ïAug. 11: Several males approached a victim and one of them hit the victim with a bottle 2:30 a.m. on Amherst Avenue. Personal property taken.
Aggravated assault
ïAug. 8: Police are calling a vehicular assault that occurred 2:35 p.m. in the 13800 block of North Gate Drive in the Layhill domestic-related.
ïAug. 4: Police say a chemical disinfectant was between acquaintances 10:30 a.m. at the American Beauty Academy, 11006 Veirs Mill Road in Wheaton.
ïAug. 8: A kitchen knife was used by family members involved in a dispute in the 700 block of Kerwin Road in Silver Spring.
Vehicle theft
ïAug. 10: A male from Gaithersburg was charged with riding a stolen scooter 8 p.m. on Catoctin Terrace in Silver Spring.
Attempted rape
ïAug. 9: A woman fended off two males she had vaguely known after a party in an apartment in the 2300 block of Glenmont Circle in Wheaton.
Sexual assault
ïAug. 6: A male tried to sell a female victim drugs and then touched her inappropriately over her closes as she started to walk away 10:20 a.m. at Medway Street and Judson Road in Wheaton.
Rockville district
Residential burglary
ïFreedom Way, 16900 block of in Rockville on Aug. 10. The suspect is known by the victim.
ïGreenspan Lane, 14200 block, between 8 p.m. and 4 p.m. Aug. 7. Forced entry; property taken.
ïManor Village Lane, 15300 block, 5:12 p.m. Aug. 6. An 18-year-old Rockville man was arrested; property recovered.
