Sligo Seventh-day Adventist Church will hold centennial celebrations Sept. 12 through Sept. 14 at the church, 7700 Carroll Ave. in Takoma Park.
On Sept. 12, the church will hold a Sacred Concert at 7 p.m. featuring a variety of classical music by performers from the Washington, D.C., area. Refreshments will be available.
On Sept. 13, morning services at 8:30 will feature music and a short sermon by Pastor Arthur Rudy Torres. A Sabbath School at 10 a.m. will offer a living history of the church. A second Sabbath Service, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., will feature a children's story, overview and highlights of the church's history, a roll call, music and a short sermon by Torres. An international luncheon will be held 1:15 p.m. A Sabbath Evening program will begin 3 p.m. with tours of Takoma Academy and Sligo School, followed by a living history discussion of the church and Adventist institutions in Takoma Park at 3:30 p.m. and an NCF program at 6 p.m.
On Sept. 14, the church will offer a brunch followed by tours of the church, Washington Adventist Hospital, Columbia Union College and the college president's house.

Sign up for fall
Takoma Soccer
Boys and girls age 3 through high school can sign up now for the fall season of Takoma Soccer. Register online at the league's Web site, www.takomasoccer.org, or attend walk-in registration 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the Takoma Park Community Center, 7500 Maple Ave.
The season starts Sept. 13 and 14. The fee is $50, which includes a team jersey. Children in nursery school and kindergarten meet once a week on weekends, while children in first grade through high school have a weekly practice and a weekend game.

to make temporary move
The Pyramid Atlantic Community Arts Store will move from its location on Ellsworth Drive in Downtown Silver Spring to a temporary space at 821 Wayne Ave. The last day on Ellsworth will be today; the first day on Wayne will be Sept. 8. The store will reopen on Ellsworth in November.
