Poor reporting is demonstrated in the description of the transgender bill fracas ("Maryland's highest court agrees to hear transgender appeal," Aug. 13 article). Equality Maryland is simply described as a group that supports the law. They are in fact a far-left leaning gay rights advocate group supported by other such groups from out of state.

There is no mention of the group's political persuasion or backers. The Alliance Defense Fund, which is representing the Citizens for a Responsible Government, is described as a "conservative Christian non-profit."

If the political and religious persuasion of one group is mentioned then that of the other should also be mentioned.

The other strategic omission is where the description of the law in question fails to include public accommodations. This is the critical term at the center of the controversy. The position of the CRG is that this wording enables those who are not biological females to enter female public facilities. If the reporter had bothered to do some basic research he would have known this.
