Members of the Burtonsville Volunteer Fire and Rescue Squad work to saw off the doors of a van and rescue the victim inside at the fire and rescue auto extrication competition Friday night at the Montgomery County Agricultural Fair. The Burtonsville squad, the reigning champion for the past several years, was competing against the Laurel Volunteer Fire and Rescue Squad to use the Jaws of Life in a simulated car accident. The event was canceled halfway through due to a storm, but the Burtonsville squad ended up using their practice on a real accident on their way home.
