Greenbelt ARTS lands $42M NASA contractCompany to support mission support work in CaliforniaA Greenbelt research firm has received a $42 million task order contract with NASA's Ames Research Center in Moffett Field, Calif. ASRC Research and Technology Solutions, an Alaskan Native Corp., provides research, engineering and scientific services to both government and industry technology consumers, including those in the aerospace, defense and transportation areas. The company currently supports NASA at the Goddard Space Flight Center, providing services such as systems engineering support to the James Webb Space Telescope Program. Ames Research Center, with more than $3 billion in capital equipment, 2,300 research personnel and a $600 million annual budget, plays a "critical role in virtually all NASA missions in support of America's space and aeronautics programs," according to NASA information. With the new contract, the company will supply project management, systems engineering, hardware/software design and development, mechanical and electronic fabrication services, integration and testing, technical writing, configuration management and other functions at Ames, according to NASA information. "This is certainly a significant contract for ARTS in both its size and the varied amount of engineering services performed under the contract," Gregg Einfalt, president of the company, wrote in an e-mail. "ARTS will be providing systems, mechanical and electrical engineering services as well as test and evaluation support to multiple NASA Ames initiatives, including programs focused on the development of nanosatellites and small satellites. We also hope to be supporting NASA Ames in the role they play on NASA's Constellation Program." The five-year contract consists of a one-year base period, followed by four one-year options.
