Home furnishing boutique and interior design studio opens in Sykesville

‘‘I have found that homeowners in Carroll County are looking for an accessible avenue for design inspiration and assistance,” said owner Andrea Orndorff, about her decision to open the store, in a press release. ‘‘The charm of Main Street and the town’s plans to further develop the downtown area for recreational and business uses attracted me to this location.”

The boutique features an array of home products, including lamps, wall décor, pillows, accent furniture, and gift soaps. On display, shoppers will find designer draperies.

In-home design assistance is available by appointment. Store hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.

Sykesville woman attends national Partylite conference

Michele Knorr of Sykesville attended the 2007 Partylite National Conference which took place in Houston, Texas from July 25-28.

Partylite, a sales marketer of home candle decor and fragrances, helps independent sales representatives, called consultants, start and maintain their own business.

Knorr began her business as an independent consultant in 2001 and is now one of 3,000 leaders in the country, according to a press release.

Participation in this year’s conference included a range of activities for more than 6,000 participants, from stage productions and business seminars to awards ceremonies. Partylite also celebrated its fund-raising efforts on behalf of the American Cancer Society, which resulted in donations of more than $9 million over the last nine years, according to the release.
