NASW Assurance Services of Frederick named Jean Parr of Columbia to its board. Parr is program director of the American Chemical Society's member insurance program.

Montgomery

The Montgomery Alliance for Community Giving named the following directors: Chris Arndt, president of Washington Management Group; Gail Ewing, former Montgomery County Council member; John Quinter of Quinter Graphics; Jean Roesser, former director of the Maryland Department of Aging; and Duane Rollins, owner of 1894 café.

Candace G. Kaplan of Potomac, president and CEO of Kaplan Financial Group and Kaplan Benefits Group LLC of Bethesda, won George Washington University's Distinguished Alumni Service Award for her work in "advancing the mission of the university through dedicated volunteer efforts in support of its programs, thereby ensuring the university's impact on its community and future generations of students."

William Kominers, a partner in Holland & Knight's Bethesda office, was named to the 2008 Chambers USA — America's Leading Business Lawyers guide.

Dr. Terrence Sheehan of Rockville, chief medical officer at Adventist Rehabilitation Hospital of Maryland in Rockville, was named medical director for the Amputee Coalition of America.

DiamondRock Hospitality of Bethesda promoted Sean M. Mahoney to executive vice president, CFO and treasurer, succeeding Mark W. Brugger, who was promoted to CEO. Mahoney has been the company's chief accounting officer and corporate controller since it formed in 2004. Previously, he was a senior manager with Ernst & Young and also worked for KPMG and Arthur Andersen. DiamondRock also promoted Briony Quinn from assistant controller to corporate controller. Previously, Quinn was vice president of finance and accounting at MeriStar Hospitality and also worked for Arthur Andersen and Beers + Cutler.

Prince George's

Lockheed Martin promoted Sonya Stewart to vice president of performance excellence at its Enterprise Solutions & Services business unit in Seabrook. Previously, Stewart was corporate vice president for workforce diversity management. She is an Air Force veteran.

Whiteford, Taylor & Preston of Baltimore named Chad J. Toms a member of its bankruptcy and business litigation sections in Wilmington, Del.
