Turner and television

Ashley Bayton, a senior at Col. Zadok Magruder High School in Derwood, received the WJZ-TV scholarship from the Baltimore Community Foundation.

The $1,000 award was established to honor the memory of longtime WJZ (channel 13) newsman Jerry Turner. The scholarship is for children who intend to pursue a career in broadcast journalism.

The Baltimore Community Foundation invests in human services, youth, education, transportation, neighborhoods, diversity, environment, arts and cultures, and promoting Baltimore.

The reviews will be published in an upcoming edition of Youth Press.
