Volvo takes the wraps off of the all-new second generation 2007 S80 sedan, a revolutionary premium car with elegant styling, a long list of breakthrough safety technologies and two highly sophisticated engine choices.

Power for the S80 is generated by an all-new 3.2L in-line six-cylinder engine and a powerful 4.4L V8 – the first ever V8 in a Volvo sedan. Torque is communicated to the street through a six-speed automatic transmission with Geartronic.

On the road, the V8-equipped S80 sedan is peppy and instantly responsive – feels more like a front-drive sedan with all that power under the hood. Standard control hardware for the Volvo flagship starts with MacPherson struts, asymmetrically-mounted coil springs, hydraulic shock absorbers and a stabilizer bar up front; a multi-link independent suspension with coil springs, hydraulic shock absorbers, stabilizer bar and cast aluminum subframe at the rear.

Inside the cabin the S80 is fitted with a super-slim center console, premium leather seating surfaces and real wood inlays. A power driver’s seat with memory, power front passenger seat and power moonroof are among the list of standard amenities. Also included is a high performance sound system with six-disc CD player, auxiliary input, MP3 capability, a 160-watt amplifier and eight speakers. The optional Audio⁄Communications package features a premium Dynaudio sound system with six-disc CD changer, a 650-watt amplifier, Dolby Pro-Logic II Surround Sound and 12 speakers.

Among the S80’s myriad of available technologies is a world first optional Personal Car Communicator (PCC). Ad advanced pocket-sized control module sends and receives information from the car that could be crucial to the security of the driver. By pressing a button, the PCC can determine whether the car is locked or unlocked and if the alarm has been activated.
