The board of directors of Sixten's Foundation Inc. wishes to personally express our congratulations to Prince George's County Public School Superintendent John Deasy for receiving the "Outstanding CEO Award for 2008" ["Business groups name Deasy CEO of the Year," July 31]. The Greater Prince George's Roundtable and the Andrews Business and Community Alliance should also be commended for so accurately citing "Deasy's efforts toward parent and community engagement programs" and in their assessment that Dr. Deasy "hit the ground running and has not stopped since."

Our organization, and by extension the students and parents of Prince George's County Public Schools, benefit by having Dr. Deasy leading our school system. His open mind, positive attitude, willingness to connect with parents and students, and genuine interest in improving the school system has extended to those students with severe learning disabilities.

Bowie, Maryland-based Sixten's Foundation (www.sixten.org) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to increasing awareness of conductive education for physically disabled students suffering from cerebral palsy and other neuro-muscular disorders.

Our mission includes making conductive education available as an optional curriculum in public school systems. From the first time we approached Dr. Deasy about our mission, our goals and our organization, he was nothing but 100 percent supportive.

Prince George's County Public Schools is fortunate to have such leadership.

Robert Kurz, Bowie
