Set in Chevy Chase, this 1922 brick-and-stone colonial home offers an interesting blend of old and new amenities with spacious rooms throughout.

High ceilings, extensive molding and custom paint define the interior of the home, which has had expansions and many updates through the years.

Extensive hardscape and landscapingsurround the home. Inside the leaded glass front door, a small vestibule with a coat closet leads to the foyer, where oak hardwoods line the floors and extend into other main-level rooms.

Columns to the left frame the open music and living rooms. A wood-burning fireplace with a mantel serves as the rooms' focal point, as does a large front bay window with a deep-set bench for seating or for plants and other décor items.

Across the entry hall, the formal dining room features the same bay window facing the front as well as side windows, crown and chair-rail moldings, and a 10-bulb chandelier. A wet bar with a granite-topped counter finishes off the elegant space that's ideal for entertaining.

Adjacent, the large kitchen is a chef's dream and offers plenty of granite counters and white cabinetry, many with glass-fronts. Skylights bring in daylight, and the breakfast nook offers more pantry space. French doors here access the deck and fenced yard out back.

The kitchen area opens to the family room, bright and airy with windows on three walls. One set of windows faces the front of the home.

A powder room sits near the kitchen, leading to a cozy den with corner windows, built-in shelves and a door to the deck.

A short flight of stairs nearby lead up to the main-level master suite, where a vaulted ceiling and sliding French doors leading to a private balcony open the space even more. A sitting area, a walk-in closet, and a private bath with his/hers marble vanities and a clawed-foot tub are part of the suite. The bath also also boasts a vaulted ceiling, a skylight, a glass-enclosed shower with built-in bench, and front windows.

The upper level, accessed by a wooden staircase off the foyer, offers three bedrooms and two baths. The large hallway and all the bedrooms have pine floors. The rooms are generously sized; two at one end of the hall have vaulted ceilings with overhead fans.

The finished lower level includes a rec/game room with Berber carpet, recessed lights and a wall of built-ins; a bonus room with a closet and a private full bath; and the laundry room. A wine cellar and an unfinished area with a workshop round out the basement.

The home also has an attached, two-car garage. All custom window treatments and light fixtures throughout the home convey, as do the washer/dryer in the laundry room.
