Thank you for such a great show, and for helping our son and Rock CreekMiddletown High School graciously opened its doors for a spectacular evening on Aug. 8. A talented troop of actors, actresses, and stage hands, known as the Kids' Theatre, presented a wonderful performance of "Enchanted Sleeping Beauty." The evil witch, Evilina, portrayed by Brooke Cipolla, captivated the packed theater with her beautiful voice and stage presence. Casting her spell over Princess Briar-Rose, portrayed flawlessly by Maureen McCarrick, the audience responded with loud and vocal passion as the princess fell to the guise of the evil witch. The handsome Prince Alexander, wonderfully portrayed by Brandon Stonestreet, suffered under the witch's spell only to overcome his fears and to defeat the Dark Knight, skillfully played by Woody Butler, in an action sequence that had the crowd cheering. As wonderful as the production was, it is the spirit of the event that warrants the attention of everyone. This production was planned, designed and presented by a group of more than 30 children, some as young as 6 years old. Led by teen Colleen McCarrick of Myersville, they gave up countless hours of their precious summer to prepare for this one performance. They did so for the selfless act of helping others. This year, every penny raised from their hard work will be used to buy an adaptive tricycle for our son, Mike, and to benefit the Rock Creek School playground fund. We are sure the young people involved in this effort learned many positive lessons this summer that will serve them over a lifetime. Their energy, compassion, and willingness to step out of their comfort zone to help others are an example we should all follow. Our family offers a heartfelt thank you to every member of this troop, all the parents who offered guidance and support, the numerous corporate sponsors, and to everyone that attended. Steve DeLoach, Myersville
