Singer/songwriter Mary Ann Redmond and her band will perform live at 7 p.m. Sunday at the Baker Park Bandshell, 2nd and Bentz Streets, Frederick.
Billboard Magazine describes Redmond as "an exciting vocal talent…who sings heartfelt ballads and funky tunes with equal ease and enthusiasm." Redmond offers audiences soulful vocal performances that are comparable to the likes of Gladys Knight, Tina Turner and Aretha Franklin. The award winning artist is a native of Richmond, Virginia and has toured with her close friend, country-great, Mary Chapin Carpenter.
Redmond took on the responsibility of being Carpenter's first and only background singer. In addition to touring with Carpenter, Redmond has also opened for some big-named acts such as Smokey Robinson, The O'Jays and Ashford and Simpson.
While performances are free to the public, The Summer Concert Series Committee encourages patrons to bring a canned food item in lieu of admission. All items collected benefit the Frederick Food Bank.
Following the concert, guests can enjoy the bells of the Carillon at 8:30 p.m. In the event of inclement weather, visit www.celebratefrederick.com for news of cancellations.
