Woman dies Sunday in Damascus collision

One woman was flown to Suburban Hospital in Bethesda, where she died. The other driver was taken to the hospital by ambulance with non-life threatening injuries.
One woman was killed and another was hospitalized after a two-car crash in Damascus on Sunday afternoon.

Nancy Jane Harrison, 72, of Damascus died at Suburban Hospital in Bethesda after a collision involving her vehicle and another car near Watkins and Woodfield roads at about 1:20 p.m., county police reported.

A preliminary police investigation found that the 2000 Mitsubishi Montero, driven by Harrison, and a 2001 Hyundai Sonata collided, closing Woodfield Road for several hours.

The police have not yet released the name or condition of the driver of the Sonata, but the driver’s condition is considered non-life-threatening, county police reported.

The police Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating the incident. Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to call the unit at 301-840-2435.
