First-time homebuyers gain access to state mortgage program Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2006 First-time homebuyers in Carroll County now have access to $4.7 million through More House 4 Less, after the Carroll Board of County Commissioners on Tuesday agreed to continue its participation in the state program.
Rita Zimmerman, deputy director of the county’s Department of Citizen Services, said the program enables some families to receive low-interest mortgage loans based on income.
The income limit is $79,000 for two-person families, and $91,000 for families of three or more.
The program offers county governments the opportunity to partner with the state to provide mortgage financing for first-time homebuyers or those who want to revitalize older communities.
Zimmerman said that Carroll residents will have access to money through Oct. 1.
