Holy Cross Hospital announced plans today to build a new 93-bed hospital on Montgomery College's Germantown campus.

Holy Cross also intends to enhance emergency and surgical services at its Silver Spring facility as well as establish two primary health care facilities for uninsured adults in Wheaton and Gaithersburg, according to a statement from the Silver Spring-based hospital.

The hospital filed letters of intent for the projects on Friday, according to Pamela Barclay, director of the Maryland Health Care Commission's Center for Hospital Services. An application, which will include cost estimates, expected services and an estimated timeline, is due Oct. 3, she said.

According to the letter, the 93-bed acute care hospital will be constructed along a future extension of Goldenrod Lane. There are also plans to operate an obstetrics and gynecology clinic at the new Germantown facility, according to the statement.
